Pradeep is co-founder, co-inventor, and co-Chief Scientific Officer of Phytogenesis. With over 20 years of experience in plant biology, he is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and a globally recognized leader in plant immunity and chemical signaling.
Pradeep Kachroo earned his Ph.D. from M.S. University, Baroda, India, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He completed postdoctoral research at Rutgers University and the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell University. He currently serves as a Professor at the University of Kentucky and Director of the Center for Agricultural and Life Sciences Metabolomics.
His research has made pioneering contributions to plant-microbe interactions, lipid-based immune signaling, and resistance protein-mediated defense mechanisms. A global authority on Systemic Acquired Resistance, Pradeep Kachroo’s discoveries have reshaped our understanding of chloroplast function in plant immunity, uncovering key links between defense signaling, light-regulated pathways, and small RNA biogenesis.
With a strong track record in scientific innovation, leadership, and translational research, Dr. Kachroo continues to drive cutting-edge advancements in plant health, sustainability, and agricultural biotechnology.

Joseph is the team’s field trial manager and lab technician. He ensures day to day grow room operations continue on pace, field trials hit their key milestones, and data is collected in a timely manner.
Joseph has worked in a variety of scientific environments ranging from spiny mice research in the University of Kentucky’s biology department, to plant-microbe interaction research with the Department of Energy at ORNL, to soil nutrient dynamics and carbon sequestration research at the University of Kentucky’s North Farm. At PhytoGenesis, he enjoys the multidisciplinary nature of developing and improving our biostimulant and biopesticide products.
He obtained undergraduate degrees from the University of Kentucky in Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology (B.S.), Biology (B.S.), and Spanish Language and Linguistics (B.A.).

Elizabeth is the team’s lab manager and research specialist, ensuring day-to-day functionality and experimentation quality. She manages in-house research trials and collaborations with outside parties.
Elizabeth has developed a breadth of job experience originating in the environmental sector working with sea turtles, then expanding through a variety of other study organisms including mice, rats, and horses. Her Master’s thesis examined the role of disabling the molecular circadian clock and how it impacted sex differences in diet-induced obesity in mice.
She possesses her Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky, and obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH.
